The Mook Yang Chong (Wooden Man Post) is a piece of training equipment that is found in several Chinese martial arts and varies in size and shape depending on its use. The Wing Chun dummy is now a fairly uniform across the world, and the Ip Man version of the form is probably the form that changes least from one organisation or Grandmaster to another. At Worthing we teach both the Ip Man version (along with its ancillary partner exercises), and the Tang family version, which differs in its application and feel.

Opinions differ as to what the exact purpose of training on the dummy is, but we feel that by embracing the dummy forms of two different lineages we give our students the chance to work on the dummy in a manner that makes the most sense to them, increasing their skill in the direction that they wish.
